3 years agoMy 1P8 beta not updating to 1P8 release version
As far as I can see 1P8 release is 8.7.0 80700098.
My beta 1P is 8.7.0 80700095.
When I click "check for updates" it shows "downloading update" but then changes directly to "you're up to date". Repeated several times.
Do I need to separately download the release version?
1Password Version: 1P8.0.7 80700095
Extension Version: 2.3.3
OS Version: macOS 12.3.1

I don't know if there have been any nightly builds since my post above on May 14th, but so far the second attempt at reverting to Production seems to have been successful.
The only things I did differently in the successful second attempt were:-
- Reboot after deleting the nightly build app in step 2.
- Turned off "install updates automatically" in Prefs
- Left the old Data file (step 3) in the Desktop instead of deleting it. Doubt this was a factor.

1P_Tommy Those are exactly the steps I followed. I saw your instructions after the edit as I saw your reply to wizard86pz.
The only deviation is that I deleted the removed folder in step 3, rather than leave it on the Desktop.
In step 2 I assumed you meant drag the 1Password application to trash, which is what I did. I dont know if you meant a 1Password folder somewhere?
I am puzzled by your question "Did I reinstall the app or close it and then reopen? If I hadn't reinstalled I would still have been on the nightly build wouldn't I?. As I said I deleted the nightly build app and reinstalled the release version, and double checked that the prefs>advanced was on production.
I have just repeated all. I did a reboot between steps 3 and 4, and have left the step 3 folder on the Desktop. As before I am now on 8.7.0 80700098 and Prefs > Advanced shows Production Channel. This time I have turned off Install updates automatically.

I would not have thought that should have happened if you reinstalled. Did you reinstall the app? or close it and then reopen? What build do you have installed? Make sure to download the latest production build and install it. Perhaps you had the instructions before my edit.
- You have already set your preference so there is little need to adjust it. I would check to make sure it is set correctly.
- Quit 1Password and all browser for good measure.
- Drag 1Password to the trash.* Do not use an app cleaner. Do this manually.
- Move
~/Library/Group Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.1password/Library/Application Support/1Password/Data to the Desktop. - Download 1Password 8 and install.
- Open 1Password again and then sign into your account when prompted.

I followed your instructions above for reverting from Nightly Build to Production and all seemed well, but next day I saw the "1P will update on restart message". Before updating I checked again that Prefs > Advanced still said "Production", which it did, so I went ahead with the update thinking it must be a production update. But after the update I am on Nightly build 8.8.0 80800091. Prefs > Advanced still says Production.

Yes, thank you wizard86pz for catching that. I'll edit now.

Thanks. I need to re-install the stable build too. That's not enough what you listed, starting from beta/nightly build like me.

No, the nightly should be the the latest cutting edge available. It would also contain that different database schema. Sounds like you would also need to set aside your current database and then get to the stable. I'm sorry for any confusion. Here's what you would need to get back to production/stable release.
Change your settings to production channel to avoid any potential auto update. 1Password > Preferences > Advanced.

I've set the updates channel from beta to nightly, so I just updated from beta to alpha/nightly 80800012.
Now I've set stable channel again. Am I supposed to be able to update to a stable version with a build number higher than 80800012, once it will be released, 1P_Tommy?

Thanks 1P_Tommy. I will probably stay as is, but glad to know how to travel back in time if I change my mind.

Yes, the nightly > beta should work too. Sorry for omitting that. I was thinking you were looking to make the move now. If you should decide to go to the production channel immediately heres how to do that.
Change your settings to production channel to avoid any potential auto update. 1Password > Preferences > Advanced.
As our founder Dave put it:
Traveling back in time can be a rough ride. I suggest switching to the Beta channel to get the next stable update and then if you want to the production channel. You're welcome to stay on betas though as we have many more goodies on the way.
