My Touch ID has also stopped working as of 8.10.39

I found a bunch of different threads on this issue going back a few months and it has finally come for me. Yes, I can Touch ID to my Mac. No, the suggested steps in several other posts did help. Also switched to the beta channel and tried that but no luck. (I'm not venturing into the nightly builds.)

All the threads on this topic seem to be closed so I'm opening another to trigger the obligatory "please submit a diagnostic" post from someone...

Thanks

I'm sorry that Touch ID isn't working to unlock 1Password on your Mac. I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:

    Please send the entire file.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!

The setting "Unlock/TouchID" was mysteriously unchecked to start and you can't toggle it. So this isn't possible.

    Have you tried:

    • In the app, Settings > Security > Untick Touch ID
    • Quit 1Password (including from menu bar)
    • Launch 1Password, retick Touch ID setting
    • Quit and Launch again

Doing the above will end up deleting and recreating the Keychain item 'com.1password.core-biometric-unlock' (for non-sso accounts). You can see this item using the Keychain Access app.

They've likely intruduced a bug when fixing the vulnerabilities found by Robinhood's red team. Here's the blog post outlining them https://blog.1password.com/august-2024-security-update/, and here's https://info.defcon.org/event/?id=54870 (recording will be posted at some point).
