Passkey: how to use with apple websites

I want to use passkey and 1Password for logging in on Apple website (iCloud.com). That is confusing. Apple is in Watchtower not supported (no purple banner) it looks. Is it not possible to use passkeys on Apple websites in combination with 1Password? I don't understand how passkeys should be easier than passwords. I think it is the opposite. Which steps to make to log in on Apple websites with passkey and 1Password?

1Password Version: 8.10.48
Extension Version: 8.10.48.25
OS Version: macOS 15.0.1
Browser: Brave

OK, thank you... I will wait till the EU forces Apple to stop with this abuse of marketpower.

    Hi there embee

    The short answer is "no".

Apple – unlike every other company using passkeys to sign in - don't allow any third-party apps like 1Password to save a passkey for your Apple Account (previously called your Apple ID). Only your devices' built-in Keychain are able to use a passkey to sign in to your Apple Account.

On our website, Passkeys.directory, there's more information about this:

    Passkeys.directory — Apple

I hope that explains things fully, but please do let me know if I can be of any further help. :)
