Passkey support for public/other computers

I'm looking to try out the new passkey capabilities. However, one element of practicality has me wondering, and I cannot find an answer.

I have 1P installed on most of my personal devices including my phone. If I'm using any of these devices, it's easy enough to use a passkey rather than password - I simply need to unlock 1P as I normally would (biometrics on phone, master password on windows machine (which has no biometric option), etc.

But what happens if I'm at a friends house, or using a public computer? With a password based login, I can at minimum reveal my password on my phone while I type it in manually (yes, keyloggers, etc., but that's a distinct topic). What are my options if instead of a password, the site/app is setup with a passkey?

Is there an ability to have both password and passkey? Does that makes sense?
Can I use my phone to 'remotely' apply my passkey from the public computer?
Maybe it's just not supported... yet?
Something else I haven't considered?

    Yes, the QR code method is available on all websites and services that you sign in with passkeys with. You may need to select a "Use a phone or tablet" option first to display the QR code but scanning that on your mobile device will take care of everything needed to sign in with the passkey stored in 1Password.

    If you wanted to have a play around with this yourself, feel free to use our Passage authentication demo site. It works exactly how passkeys should do across all browsers and devices, and gives you a good idea on how the hybrid option works when needed when selecting the "Use another device".

    Fantastic. Was hoping for something like the hybrid option.
    Will this always be available for sites with passkey support (where I also have a passkey created)?

    If you are using another device that doesn't have 1Password added to it and you'd like to sign in to an account using a passkey stored in 1Password, there are a few ways to do so. In a lot of cases, websites and services allow both a passkey and password to be added to an account simultaneously so you have the benefit of choosing which one works best for you (Google, PayPal, and Amazon allow both set up for example).

    1Password does also support hybrid transport passkeys to sign in on other devices using passkeys in 1Password. This means that as long as the device you're signing in to has Bluetooth turned on, a QR code will be displayed that you scan with your iOS or Android device that has the passkey, authenticate with your unlock method, then the passkey is securely used on the other device without needing to install 1Password there.
