Request: DuckDuckGo Browser Extension
Hello everyone in the 1Password Community.
I'm here to respectfully request a 1Password web browser extension for the DuckDuckGo web browser.
I'm a subscriber of both 1Password (the best pw management system imo) and the DuckDuckGo browser (very quickly becoming my favorite web browser). I currently use the 1PW extension with Safari, Firefox, and Chrome (depending on which work environment I'm in) and I would like to use it with DuckDuckGo. And as I understand it, DuckDuckGo is built on the Chromium platform similar to Google's Chrome and Apple's Safari, so the compatibly shouldn't be the road block.
Is anyone in the community from 1Password that can offer any insight why there isn't a web extension? Or alternatively, help pass along this request to the appropriate development team for evaluation?
Are there other community members who would also love❤️ to have an 1PW extension for the DuckDuckGo browser? Thanks everyone and stay safe out there!
PS: I read the instructions on how to connect additional browsers (see below), but I believe that this refers to installing the 1Password application, in this example, on a Windows computer. What I am requesting is an extension that allows 1PW access in DuckDuckGo without installing a native application. Thanks again.

Hello psyduckduckgo! 👋
Welcome to the 1Password Community! It's my understanding that the DuckDuckGo browser doesn't currently support third-party browser extensions. Let me know if I have that wrong. Without support for browser extensions, most of 1Password's autofill and passkey features won't be available in that browser since they rely on our browser extension. That being said, you can still fill your logins in other ways.
On the iPhone and Android, you can save and fill logins in DuckDuckGo by using the steps in these guides:
- Use 1Password to save logins and sign in to apps and websites on your Android device
- Use 1Password to save logins and sign in to apps and websites on your iPhone and iPad
On Windows and Mac you can use Auto-Type and Universal Autofill:I hope that helps.

Thanks, Dave. I'm here because DDG said the opposite, but I'm sure I wasn't speaking with a developer or anything. I can go back and see if I can get any further details.

As far as I'm aware, DuckDuckGo doesn't currently support third-party browser extensions. Here's a recent post from a DuckDuckGo staff member in their Reddit community that seems to confirm this: Link
But if you can link to documentation that shows how someone can install a third-party extension in DuckDuckGo browser then I can take a look. 🙂
