Search functionality in the 8.7 Window app differs from search the browser extension

It's correct that this is a result of how 1Password 8 currently handles parts of words (or "substrings", as they're technically known). However, this is something our developers are looking at for potential improvements.

And in the meantime, there's another way you can approach this. If you press ctrl + alt + f, a find dialogue will pop up, which should be able to help with the kind of search you'd like to do. Let me know how this works for you - and we'll welcome any feedback you'd like to offer! 👋
