Search not working as expected

when I click on the top search in the app I expect to show a filtered view of the results. I just noticed that you have to hit command enter to do this. This is not behaving like other apps. Period!

let me start by saying again, the support from 1pass is "World Class".

but your reply is infuriating that 1pass is still making excuses. This particular issue is a no brainer. The behavior of the search is WRONG!

Thank you again for the feedback. The team really does listen to the comments and input that is posted here on the forums. It's important to remember that we also receive feedback from other communications channels such as social media, email and through direct testing with users.

Before the release of 1Password 8, our UX research group tested various approaches for search and this method of displaying the most relevant results in a dropdown was found to work best for the majority of users.

The team is always interested in learning how we can improve 1Password's search tool in the future. When searching for an item, are you repeatedly not seeing the correct item being suggested in the search dropdown? Are there any examples, of both search terms and search results, that you can provide without revealing sensitive information?

you last line says so much "What is more bizarre is that search in 1Password 8 on both iPad and iPhone work correctly."

my takeaway here supports my feeling about the attitude of the business. they know all and the they feel they are the most popular password manager therefore they are great. Just because you are the most popular does not mean you have a great product! I too am a long time user and feel they jumped the shark.

    thank you for that post

harczuk Not to be too negative; This has been pointed out on this forum repeatedly and the comments have been "passed along to the team"... repeatedly.

This is with maybe 10 minutes of searching the forum for "show all matching items" never mind how many posts there will be phrasing the problem differently.

1Password introduced a truly bizarre search behavior in version 8 on the Mac considering that versions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 on Mac all treated search correctly. I would know, I have used 1Password

What is more bizarre is that search in 1Password 8 on both iPad and iPhone work correctly.

  • Hello harczuk! 👋

Thank you for the feedback. 1Password will show you a short list of the most relevant results in the immediate search dropdown, this is done to simplify the search experience and helps folks find the item that they're looking for quicker.

As you mentioned, pressing Command-Enter will show you a full list of results that includes all items that even partiallymatch your search term. Alternatively you can use the Edit > Find tool (Option-Command-F) to search within the current item list.

That being said, I've passed along your comments to the team. 🙂
