Search query not editable
I've just upgraded to 1Password 8 and noticed the new search dropdown. For me this is not very practical as I'm searching through a very big vault and the dropdown contains too few results. So I'll have to use Command+Enter to get the full results.
A minor inconvenience so far. But since multiple people are working in the same vault there are often minor misspellings or differences in spelling (eg. abbreviations) which means I need to amend my query regularly. This, however, is not possible since when opening the full results the search field is empty.
Can this behaviour be changed so that the query remains in the search bar for as long as the user stays in the search view?
Thanks,
Rudi

I agree with @wiswiz ... the hidden "Find" behavior should be default for search.

+1 where can we vote to have an option to bring back the version 7 search function? I'll wait a little longer, but I'll be going back to previous version if it's not implemented soon.

Hi @burntbearings,
Thanks for your feedback on the topic, I've added a proxy vote on your behalf as well.
viswiz's suggestion may also be of interest to you, thanks for providing that. 🙂

yes so much more work to find the right entry and beware if you by accident open the wrong item.

They implemented a solution already but it's well hidden behind CTRL + ALT + F or CMD + OPT + F. It works like the superior search of 1PW7. Only its placement is really strange directly next to the sort button. I would like to see an option to replace the cumbersome new search with this one. It should be the default.

The new search dropdown actually creates more work for me to locate what I am looking for. I absolutely can't stand this new feature. I hope that 1Password will provide a solution to exclude the dropdown function in the search field. Otherwise, I will have to find a new password manager so I spend more time working and less time searching 1Password.

Hi flybynight27,
Appreciate the clarification, I can definitely see how this would be useful and will share these notes with the team! The context helps us better understand how people are using 1Password and that in turn allows us to best advocate for the changes you'd like to see, so thank you. 💪🏻

andrew_l_1P Thanks for the reply. I just noticed that my last reply got a little mangled… probably some markup issue with the angle brackets on my part. My bad for not previewing before I post. Too late to edit, but I'll see if I can update for clarity here.
First I might search for "ClientName DatabaseName" to find my login to their database, and then I would search for "ClientName Enc…" to search for the entry for their encryption key.
In 1P7, keeping that ClientName in the search/filter box and just editing the last part of the search made it much faster than what I have to do now. Thanks! - andrew_l_1P

Hi @ruudwelten and flybynight27,
I appreciate the feedback about this and will share it with the team. We currently have an open feature request for the option to show search results in the item list instead of the drop down menu, and while I can't make any promises, I have added proxy votes on behalf of both of you.
As you mentioned,
⌘
+Enter
is currently the best solution for this, but I can absolutely understanding wanting to change the default behaviour. Let me know if you folks have any questions. 🙂ref: IDEA-I-1074
