SSH Agent ... not working

Subject: 1Password SSH Agent Not Creating ~/.1Password/agent.sock Despite Correct Developer Setup – macOS 15.3.2 + CLI v2.30.3

Message:

Hi 1Password Support,

I’m trying to use 1Password’s SSH agent integration on my MacBook Pro (Apple Silicon) with Developer → “Use 1Password as SSH Agent” enabled. This is part of a secure infrastructure automation project using 1Password CLI and SSH key management across multiple Macs. The integration works fine on other machines, but on this device, the expected socket (~/.1password/agent.sock) is never created and SSH functionality is completely non-functional.

🧠 System Details

macOS: 15.3.2 (24D81)
1Password App: 8.10.70 (81070026) – installed from 1password.com
1Password CLI (op) version: 2.30.3
System Integrity Protection (SIP): Disabled
SSH key in 1Password: Marked “Use with SSH”
Developer → Use 1Password as SSH Agent: Enabled
Goal: Use 1Password to manage SSH authentication across multiple systems using the built-in agent
✅ Troubleshooting Performed

Confirmed .1password/agent.sock is never created (ls -la ~/.1password returns “No such file or directory”)
Confirmed SSH_AUTH_SOCK is not set automatically, and ssh-add -L returns Error connecting to agent
Toggled the Developer SSH Agent setting OFF and ON again multiple times
Quit and restarted the app (fully exited from the menu bar) - I even shutdown the MBP (not restart)
Manually created the .1password directory to see if that resolved it — it did not
Granted 1Password Full Disk Access under System Settings → Privacy & Security
Fully uninstalled 1Password using CleanMyMac, including:
~/Library/Application Support/1Password
~/Library/Group Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.1password
~/Library/Preferences/com.1password.1password.plist
~/.1password
Reinstalled the latest version from your website
Rebooted the system and launched 1Password clean
Ran 1Password from terminal in verbose mode:
/Applications/1Password.app/Contents/MacOS/1Password --verbose

Output showed: SSH Agent has started
Immediately followed by: PathNotFound error (socket never appears)
Confirmed this issue does not occur on another Mac with the same configuration — the agent works perfectly there
❌ Current Status

Despite all settings being correct and the agent reporting as started, the agent.sock file is never created and 1Password cannot be used as an SSH agent on this system.

🙏 Request

Could you help determine what’s preventing the socket from being created? Is this a known issue with this macOS version or 1Password build? How can I fix it?

Happy to send full logs, environment details, or run a diagnostic version if needed.

Thank you for your time and support.
