Suggestion enhancement: customize password field name
Hi folks,
I’d like to suggest an enhancement because the current workarounds I know of are a bit clunky.
When creating a Login (using the Chrome extension in my case), I can enter the username, password, and URL, which usually works fine. However, some websites don’t follow the usual conventions for field names.
For example:
https://atrium8.neotimm.com/extranet/#/login
(See screenshot of the Elements view below.)
This site is in French and uses what we jokingly call the “French exception”--I guess: the password field’s aria-label is mot de passe instead of password. The default autofill doesn’t populate the password field. However, if I add a custom field in the Login item titled mot de passe with my password, autofill works correctly.
My suggestion:
Allow customization of the password field title when creating a Login item. This would make handling non-standard sites much easier. I’ve run into this issue on multiple sites, and I believe a 1Password staff member once suggested the workaround.
If there’s a better approach, I’d love to hear it.
Cheers!

DISREGARD!
I have just realized i CAN change the name, from "Text" to "Domain".
Sorry !!!
Thanks. I am not sure this is what i actually need.
I need to add a field to an entry. The field is not a "Text, URL, Email, Address, etc..." it is something else. I am trying to add a new field that will be called "Domain", but i cannot find a way to change the field name or customize it.
The entry already has a username, a license key, a password, a URL, etc. I need to add a field to this entry. I did not want to create a new entry with a "Title" = Domain.any suggestions?
TIA !!

Hello,
Could you please let me know how to apply this workaround?
Thanks.

Hi Marcelo,
Here is what usually works for me.
- On the field which is not auto-filling, right-click > Inspect (on chrome, should be similar with other browsers).
- In the inspector pane, locate the `id` or `aria-label` property of the `form` item for that field, and retain its value. The screenshot I added in my original post shows this.
- In your 1password Login item, add a password item, use the value from step 2 as its title, and your actual password as its value.
- Save. Refresh the page and it should auto-fill correctly.
Hope that helps!
