Hello everyone!
Thank you all for the continued feedback! For security reasons, the 1Password desktop app will by default only connect to supported browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, Brave, Edge and Arc. If you're using a Mac then you can add Zen Browser as an additional browser to the desktop app:
- Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app.
- Click on 1Password next to the in the menu bar.
- Click Settings.
- Click Browser.
- Click Add Browser and choose your browser from the Applications folder.
Adding additional browsers is currently only available for the Mac and Linux. We're not regularly adding new supported browsers individually since that isn't a long-term and sustainable solution however I've shared your requests to support Zen Browser with our product team. We hope to bring the custom browsers feature to 1Password on other platforms (like Windows) in the future.
For the time being, you may still be able to use 1Password in Zen Browser on your Windows PC but you'll need to unlock it separately from the desktop app using your account password.-Dave

2 months agoThank you for the request, I've shared it with the team. It's not currently possible to add unsupported browsers to 1Password for Windows using either the production or beta version, it's a feature that still has to be built by our development team.

1P_Dave If this is a 'yet to be developed' feature, which it sounds like it is, then 1Password should continue to support the old 'manual' vetting process for browsers until you are able to provide another solution. Currently your Windows-based customers have no solution to this problem.

Welcome to the community! It might help to think about it the other way around, with our direct browser whitelisting process, we couldn’t support all requested browsers (like Zen Browser), which is why we’re building a new way for people to connect whichever browser they want across platforms: Connect additional browsers to the 1Password app
We hope to share more news about Windows in the future. I've shared your request with the team.

1P_Dave From what you have shared in this thread, two things are true -
- Manually adding browsers is not a 'long-term sustainable' solution.
- While you intend to add a feature for users to add browsers on their own, this is not a currently in-development feature, just an intended one.
The responsible way to handle that situation from a support standpoint for paying customers is to continue to provide the previous process which is not long-term sustainable but -has- been effective thus far while developing your new feature, then ending the previous process when the new feature is available.

Thanks for the reply. The direct vetting and whitelisting process approved only a small number of browsers, leaving users of other browsers (like Zen Browser) without a way to connect their browser to 1Password's desktop app. The new additional browsers feature is designed to address that gap.
While you intend to add a feature for users to add browsers on their own, this is not a currently in-development feature, just an intended one.
The feature has already been built and released for both macOS and Linux and our team is working on building it for Windows as well.
