Syncing w/ Google Drive

when syncing G: Drive yesterday I noticed that a One Password file named OnePasswordCoreLocalization was blocked from Syncing to the G: Drive.  I for one do not want any of my 1Password files synced with any cloud service, ie G: Drive, Dropbox or even iCloud.

My question is, does 1Password block all syncing activities from outside storage entities so that I do not have to do anything extraordinary to protect my passwords and credit card information?

  • Hello Edgolfer! 👋

Thanks for the question! 1Password does not have the ability to prevent other apps on your device from uploading local files to cloud services like Google Drive. Instead, I recommend that you review the settings of your cloud backup app to ensure that you're only uploading the files that you wish to upload.

OnePasswordCoreLocalization is a component in the 1Password desktop app installer, it's likely that your cloud service is trying to upload whatever folder you've saved the installer in on your device. Usually this will be the Downloads folder.

That being said, your local 1Password account information is encrypted and stored in support folders that most cloud backup services don't upload automatically as part of a backup of your system. Let me know if you have any questions.
