Tag Search in Quick Access?

Hello folks,

Is there a way to search by tags in Quick Access? If there is I can't seem to get it to work, any ideas?

Thanks.

  • Hi @rolfboom,

    Thanks for your kind words! I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing confusion and absolutely see the value in being able to search for a tag. I've added a vote on your behalf to the internal tracker mentioned earlier. Thanks for letting us know this is important to you! 😊

    @primus202,

    While I can't speak for the whole team, I personally keep a Delete tag going to keep an eye on accounts that I no longer use and should get around to deleting. In chatting with some colleagues about the topic, I learned that one uses an Address tag for any services that use their address so when they move, they know what needs to be updated. I'm now tempted to do something similar with any pre-authorized credit card payments! In addition to what I suspect are the common "utilities, gaming, social, etc" tags, there are certainly many ways to make use of tags to organize items within 1Password.

    First, I love the quick access and have gotten used to it in an instance!
    I'm also looking very forward to having support for tag search in quick access, since I use tags a lot.

    The most confusing thing was using my usual search-queries in quick access and not finding what I was expecting to find. I first thought that I didn't remember my tagging-convention correctly. Then I thought that somehow my tags got removed or some entries were lost. And then I eventually noticed that tags where just not searched for in quick access.
    Sad thing is, after a while I forget that tags still don't work in quick access and then this just happens again.

    No worries. What does your product team feel like the value of tags is? To me it's the ability to group logins via meta data so I can more easily search for subsets of items in my login database. For instance I can type "terminal" and see all logins I've associated with the "terminal "tag."

  • Hi @primus202,

    Thanks for sharing the details of your use case, I've added these to our internal tracker along with your vote for this feature. Examples like this help give us perspective and thus make meaningful changes so I appreciate you taking the time to write it out. 🙂

    I use tags to mark certain logins as necessary for various scripts I run. That way I can type the command in 1Password search to pull up the associated log in. Without tag search in quick access this is no longer possible without opening the full app. :(

  • Hi @Hightime,

    This isn't currently possible and, while I can't make any promises, I've submitted your feedback to our internal tracker. If you're open to sharing, I'd love to know more about your use-case for searching tags.

    Thanks!
