Unlock via Chrome extension using TouchID

How can I permanently enable unlocking using TouchID in the Chrome extension on MacOS? It seems like this works sometimes, but mostly not .. forcing me to enter my very long (i.e. typo-prone) pass...

The 1Password desktop app definitely can share a lock state with 1Password in the browser, so if that's not what you're seeing, we can definitely take a closer look. Just as a quick first step, if you quit both Chrome and 1Password for Mac and then relaunch them, does that improve your state of play? Let me know!
