Update 1Password for Windows as a standard user

I know this is an old post, but the issue is still occurring with 1P 8.10.80. For me this issue is that automatic update fails when the user is logged on as a Windows Std user. If I log in as an administrator user the update succeeds.

Can this be fixed?

Hi Former Member, thanks for writing in. I'm sorry to hear there's been an issue updating 1Password as a standard user.

I'd like to ask you to try updating 1Password as a standard user with any browsers where you're using the 1Password extension completely closed. If you're still running into an issue, could you check through our update troubleshooting guides to see if any of the suggestions help:

Let us know how that goes, and thanks again!

Hello Timothy, I have 1P starting up when I login. Since 1P checks for updates when first starting, no browser is running at the time. Those instructions say to white list the 1P files. I can do that. Also, I'll have to wait until the next released update to see if that works.

But this didn't used to happen and I'd prefer 1P support get to the root cause and fix it. Other apps that have a requirement for Administrator access to update trigger the UAC. Messing with internet security should not be required. There's no mention of that in the install instructions.

(Thanks! We'll see if I get tapped by the copyright people. :-)

That makes complete sense Former Member, and thanks for confirming those details.

As a next step I would suggest sending in a diagnostics report so the team can help get to that root cause and find a solution:

        Sending Diagnostics Reports (Windows)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com.

        With your email please include:
