Update on PRF support

Hello 😊

I would like an update on PRF support in 1Password. I've already seen the answer to this question: https://www.1password.community/discussions/1password/prf-support/153278.

Recently, a new project for a web service that can use a passkey to encrypt a file has appeared:

The service doesn't work with 1Password, which is also specified on the github. It is stated that this is due to incomplete support for the PRF function. This support seems to have been in beta for several months now. Do you have any visibility on availability? Not necessarily a precise date, but let's say some time during the year. 😉

Regards

    Hello 1P_Dave 😊

I don't know any other service that use PRF on the web, that's a first for me. But I me very curious about filekey.app. The service looks promising and is very easy to use, with a single-page design. IF I can make it self-hosted and run with a passkey in 1Password, I can clearly see the appeal of the project.

Thank you for passing on the subject to the developers !

  • Hello Grishkaone! 👋

Thanks for reaching out! 1Password now supports the PRF extension for passkeys as long as you're using the latest stable version of 1Password in the browser.

I've tested the website that you linked to and while 1Password is able to save the passkey on the site, the passkey fails to authenticate. I've flagged this to our development team so that they can take a look.

Are you running into issues with passkeys that use PRF on any other website/service?
