1Password Families was launched in 2016. March 2017 seems to line up with the "6 years using 1Password" message that you're seeing in the app. 🙂

You can find the creation year of your account by using 1Password.com:

1. Log in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com (in the browser, not the app).
2. Click on Billing in the sidebar.
3. Look for the date of your first invoice.

I have no clue. I think I went straight to "Families" when it first became a subscription, but I have no idea when that was.

Looking at it again, it says "6 years using 1Password), but I've been a paying customer since almost day one of the original "1P" app, long before it became 1Password.

I'm sorry for the confusion. This refers to the age of your 1Password account. If you were using a licensed version of 1Password before migrating to a 1Password.com account then that wouldn't be included in the count since 1Password 8 doesn't have access to the purchase dates of your old licenses. I can see how we could improve the wording here and I've filed an internal issue with the team.

If you see a message that says "6 years using 1Password" then it means that you would have signed up for an account sometime around 2017. Does that sound right?

My bad...that's exactly where I saw it, but I ended up there (for some reason) while installing or uninstalling the macOS beta. Regardless, this is where I saw it. Looking at it again, it says "6 years using 1Password), but I've been a paying customer since almost day one of the original "1P" app, long before it became 1Password.

I've asked around and my colleagues and I aren't able to determine where you might have seen that message in 1Password 8 for macOS/iOS, it doesn't sound familiar. Is it possible that you opened the "Manage Accounts" page and saw a similar message there? You can find "Manage Accounts" in 1Password for Mac by following these steps:

1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
2. Click on your account or collection in the top left and then click Manage Accounts.
3. Click on one of your accounts.

You should see a message that includes "X years using 1Password". Does that look like what you might have seen?

Without going through the process again, I don't remember if it was when re-installing v8 on my iPhone or Mac, but I haven't had anything but v8 on any device since it was released. I have gone back and forth between the beta and the stable version a couple of times, in the past couple of weeks, but I've never noticed this until today, and it was gone before almost instantly. But I think it said "Thank you for using 1Password since 2014". The only reason I even thought anything about it was I knew I'd been using it since the beginning.

Again, it's obviously a 1st world problem, so I wouldn't worry about it. But I just thought it was odd the correct year wasn't displayed. Thanks.
