Where has the ability to view the password gone in the new Quick Access?

Thanks andrew_l_1P - that's definitely helpful. It's an extra step I'd like to avoid, as it is after all the "quick" access, but it's a good workaround for sure!

Another option here is the ⌘ + O keyboard shortcut once you've found the item in Quick Access. This will open it in a separate window from which you can reveal the password (Tommy's shortcut works here too) or open it with Show in Large Type. Yes in the browser extension you can do this, but in the new quick access, they seem to have killed this feature and I'm not quite sure why. It's been hugely useful to me.

You can also use the toggle Command + R for an on/off type of switch while using the main app.

Wonder if there is a setting to always show the password.

Not in the browser extension, although you can in the application (Preferences > Security > Concealed Fields > Always show passwords and full credit card numbers.

now seems I can't look at passwords at all in the new Quick Access, I have to open 1password proper?

You can view an item's password in the browser extension by clicking the down-arrow in the password field > Reveal.
