You indicated that you are using 1Password 6 and 1Password for Safari. Unless that was a typo you'll need to use 1Password 8 for that functionality. 1Password for Safari is not compatible with 1Password 6. You indicated you have 12.5.1 so the device is compatible. The only question is if you have a membership. 1Password 8 requires a membership. Please let me know more.
