BUG: Keyboard shortcuts seem to be broken/inverted on MacOS

Problem

When not logged into 1Password, and the cursor is in an INPUT field on a page, pressing just the Down Arrow causes the 1Password prompt box to appear.

Root Cause

For whatever reason, and only on MacOS, the extension appears to be incorrectly detecting the Command key press state (the actual shortcut is Command + Down Arrow, not just Down Arrow, to "Open or close the category menu.").

If you hold Command and press Down Arrow, nothing happens (which is not the expected behavior).

Workaround (until 1Password fixes it)

Log into the extension.  The bug seems to only affect it when not logged in, for whatever reason.

  • Hello casualtalkradio! 👋

I'm sorry that you're pressing the down arrow is causing 1Password's prompt to appear. Our developers recently addressed a situation like this in the beta version of 1Password. So that I can learn more about the issue that you're currently seeing, can you tell me the following:

    1. Which browser are you using?
    2. Can you provide an example webpage where you're seeing the issue?
    3. What version of 1Password in the browser is installed: Find the version number for 1Password in your browser

I look forward to hearing from you.

      1. Brave
      2. It doesn't matter - it's anywhere there's an input box on the page that you're focused in assuming you're not logged in
      3. 8.12.10.24.  Had to do Developer Mode to force an update, which came back as 8.12.12.10.  We'll test again.
