Workaround for table markdown.

I see several posts requesting table markdown all answered with the general response of "That is a good idea, we will pass the feedback on".

In the meantime, since nothing seems to be happening with tables, I was wondering is there are any good work arounds suggestions?

The best I came up with was to use plaintext markdown such as

|fff|www|
|www|fff|

The problem here is that while editing notes, you are using a proportional font and so it is very cumbersome to get stuff aligned while editing. Is there a way to edit in a fixed width font? Or does anyone else have a better workaround. Maybe an attachment that displays inline of something?
