How to revert to v7, please?
Unfortunately, v8 has broken many things, I don't find the new features useful, I can no longer get the browser extension to respond to a keyboard shortcut, and it has broken TextExpander.
I tried searching this forum, but get no results.
Can somebody please help me revert to v7?
Thank you

Thank you again for the response.
As regards TextExpander being disabled, are you saying that I have to keep 1Password closed? This will affect my workflow. Wouldn't it be better to wait until the issue is resolved?

Thank you for the reply. I'll respond to each of the issue below:
Keyboard shortcut no longer worked in Safari extension.
Please make sure that you've installed the new 1Password for Safari: 1Password for Safari on the Mac App Store
Can you tell me which shortcut specifically isn't working? You can find a list of shortcuts for 1Password in the browser here: 1Password keyboard shortcuts
TextExpander went into its disabled mode (with the yellow triangle/exclamation mark icon), which resolved every time I quit 1P 8.
Thank you for the additional details. I do see that our developers are aware of a scenario where 1Password isn't releasing Secure Input quickly enough which could temporarily prevent text expansion apps from working. Secure Input is part of macOS and is used by 1Password to make sure that what you type into 1Password is secure and won't be intercepted by other applications.
We're hoping to improve the situation here with a future update and I've added your report to the internal work item that our developers have open for the issue. I do have a workaround that can help until the update is ready:
- Open and unlock 1Password 8.
- Click the 1Password menu (next to the Apple menu) > Preferences...
- On the General tab, check the box for "Keep 1Password in the menu bar".
Then use βQ (CommandβQ) to quit 1Password in the future. This will close the main 1Password window and release Secure Input while keeping 1Password running in the background so that filling and Quick Access can continue to work.
Let me know if that helps. π

Thank you for the response, Dave.
Issues:
Keyboard shortcut no longer worked in Safari extension.
TextExpander went into its disabled mode (with the yellow triangle/exclamation mark icon), which resolved every time I quit 1P 8.
I depend on both of these throughout my work, and did not want to spend the time trying to resolve both issues.
Sorry to hear that version 7 will not be supported. Not sure what to do moving forward.

well v8 isnt supported either. no updates have been released, lots of customers upset and leaving 1PW for other solutions

As long as 1Password 7 remains compatible then in all good conscience the only honest advice you should be giving is that users do not 'upgrade' until you have fixed the bugs and broken functionality in version 8.
You assume any of that is on the horizon, or that they even consider any of the bugs to be bugs or any of the functionality to be broken/missing.In fact, v8 may be exactly what they intended to release to the public. Think about it: either it's not, and that was the worst managed release ever, or the release was intended and the software is exactly what they mean it to be.

But I strongly recommend sticking with 1Password 8 since 1Password 7 is no longer supported
As I said elsewhere regarding v8: Imagine if Cadillac decided to remove the front passenger seat from its new cars (cost reasons, of course, which leads to higher profit) and tried to tell you that the new model of your car is better and worth their new mandatory car subscription, you-aren't-allowed-to-own-it payment model.

Hello sawxray! π
I'm sorry to hear that you ran into some trouble with 1Password 8. I also use TextExpander exhaustively each and every day alongside 1Password 8, can you tell a little more about the issue that you ran into? I would be happy to look into this for you.
Can you also tell me which keyboard shortcut isn't working and which browser you're using?
You can revert to 1Password 7 by quitting 1Password 8 and dragging 1Password.app to the Trash. Then double-click on 1Password 7.app.zip in your Applications folder to restore 1Password 7. But I strongly recommend sticking with 1Password 8 since 1Password 7 is no longer supported and will only receive important security updates going forward.
I look forward to hearing from you. π
