Password Expiration Notifications in 1Password

Within 1Password, you do have the option to set an expiration date and view it via Watchtower, but you do not receive a notification when a password is about to expire. Is this currently being worked on, and can it be rolled out?

    Hi 1P_Dave

    Thanks for the response.
It's now the 5th, here in New Zealand and the alerts that I created notifications for have not been triggered, do not show expiring soon in the referenced item and nether does this show in the watchtower.

Is there some kind of magic method I need to use to ensure this works?

    Regards

    Ryan

I'm sorry that you're still not seeing the Watchtower banner. If you create a new item with the same date field and alert then do you see the banner for that new item? I see it on my end:

Let me know if you see the "Expiring soon" banner on a new item.

Adding my two cents here as the alerts are not working.
I've created a test alert & membership test as shown in the screenshot and the expiry warning is not being shown on the item or in the watchtower? Any input here would be appreciated.

The other thing I have noticed is that the expiry date selector is using the format DD/MM/YYYY where as the alert expiry date selecting is using MM/DD/YYYY

Thanks for reaching out. It looks like you've set the expiry alert for February 5th so you wouldn't see the alert in Watchtower until that date (tomorrow). If you'd like to see the alert get triggered earlier then you can adjust the alert's scheduled date.

This is a known issue that is in our developer's backlog to get fixed. I've added your report to the internal work item open for the issue. I'm sorry for any confusion caused.

  • Hello EbuAkca! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! Adding an expiry date to an item will result in that item being flagged by Watchtower in two places:

    • As a banner at the top of the item itself.
    • In Watchtower's "Expiring Items" section in the 1Password app.

While I don't have any plans to share about having 1Password generate push notifications for expired items, I've filed a feature request with our Product team so that they can consider adding this feature in the future.
