1Password desktop app refuses to run/open
My 1Password desktop app v8.11.8 x64 refuses to open on my Windows 11 x64 computer. The app last auto-updated September 11th and it's been an issue since then. I've been able to use the browser agent...

I'm sorry that you're running into trouble when opening 1Password for Windows. Can you try these specific steps to open the desktop app:
- Right-click on the 1Password icon in your System Tray and click Settings.
- Click Advanced.
- Turn off "Use Hardware Acceleration".
Does that allow you to workaround the issue? If it doesn't then can you tell me if you're able to open 1Password from Safe Mode: Windows Startup Settings

Hi Dave, thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately your suggestion was also something that I've already tried and it didn't work because there's no 1Password icon in the system tray beside the clock. There's currently no apps or processes running under Task Manager that show anything related to 1Password.
In safe mode with networking, I was able to successfully open 1Password and I updated to the latest version 8.11.10. I also opened the advanced settings and turned off Hardware Acceleration. Unfortunately, once I saved changes and rebooted back into normal mode, 1Password continues to not run or open the desktop app or the icon in the system tray.

Thanks for the reply! Because 1Password works in Safe Mode, which stops most third-party apps from running, this suggests that another app may be preventing 1Password from opening. Common culprits usually involve antivirus or other security software.
If you are using an antivirus or security software then I recommend that you add 1Password's files and folders to the security software's whitelist: If you can't install, update, or use 1Password
If you're not using any antivirus/security software, or this doesn't help, then let me know.

Hi Dave,
That's a good suggestion. I actually saw that recommendation on another thread and I already inputted all the listed file and folder locations into the white list for Microsoft Defender on my computer. Unfortunately, that was before I started this thread and it still isn't working.
Other than Microsoft Defender, I have no other security or antivirus software running.
