1Password disabled on some websites

I have noticed that on some Website, 1Password simply fails to work (Safari, MacOS). Since I cannot find a place to easily post a bug about this (1Password - you really need a place for people to just post a bug.)

On the Nintendo.com website, I was asked to sign in. I clicked on the little one password icon in the name field, and it said I needed to unlock 1Password. It was open and unlocked already.  Then I clicked it again and it just turned the little triangle quickly and back again, nothing filling in.

So I went to the 1Password icon at the top of the browser windows, and it opened to the proper website, but when I clicked autofill, nothing happened. So I had to copy and paste the user name and password one by one by hand into each field.

I have also seen this behavior on Bank of America at times, as well as Merrill Lynch' s website. Sometimes it works, and other it does not.

And it especially does not work on any website that refused to allow the user to paste in a user name or password.

That's my bug report I am sure you are already aware, but a search of the forum revealed nothing on this. Thank you.

P.S.: Your own chat bubble often covers the Publish button at the bottom right. Maybe the chat bubble  should be in the upper right?

Thank you for confirming that opening the website in a new tab gets things working in the new tab. The team has identified an issue in Safari 18.4, that is causing the issue that you've reported, and have filed feedback with Apple to get this fixed.

For the time being, opening the website in a new tab should get things working again. If that doesn't work then restart Safari by completely closing it and then reopening it.

I've flagged this to the team so that they can get this fixed. If you resize the window or scroll down then you should be able to reveal the Publish button.

That is great when the window is small, but i have seen this happen when I am at full screen. Just saying that I should not have to go out of full screen and resize to find the button.

The answer to your question is YES, if I copy the current URL where it is not working, and paste it into a new tab, the 1Password icon menu starts working again.

Just for grins, I went back to the original window, and it still does not work. Hmmm.....

Thanks Dave. And thanks for the email as well. I did not know I could send directly there.

I have been trying to see if I can find a series of steps that causes it to stop working. I will try your suggestion and let you know here when it happens next.

  • Hello MajorHavoc! 👋

You've found the right place! You can post bugs that you've run into here in the community. Alternatively, if you don't want to post on the public community, you can send an email to support@1Password.com

It sounds like you're running into a known issue where 1Password's suggestion menu will stop working, and Autofill will stop filling in Safari. So that I can confirm whether you're running into the issue, the next time that it occurs, does opening the same website in a new tab get things working again?
