1Password.eu is connecting to my.1password.com Amazon Nova AI services. Why?
Hi there, today I found out, that my 1Password.EU service is connecting also to my.1password.com services (not only my.1password.eu). Can you tell me why and why one IP is a https://aws.amazon.com/...

Thank you for reaching out, I'm happy to clarify the different connections that you're seeing! 1Password is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), so it’s normal to see connections to Amazon-owned IP addresses. I’m not familiar with the website you referenced, but it lists the IP as “Amazon Data Services NoVa,” which seems to refer to AWS’s Northern Virginia region, not the “Amazon Nova” product (note the difference in capitalization).
Regarding the other connections you observed, it’s expected for the 1Password app to contact those domains, even when using a .EU account. This is documented in our “1Password ports and domains” guide: 1Password ports and domains
The .EU region determines where your data is hosted and your billing currency, but the app may still connect to 1Password.com for purposes like app updates, as outlined in our support documentation.

Happy to look into this for you! Could you share some more details about what you're experiencing? When you go to my.1password.eu, is the website reaching out to my.1password.com? And where are you seeing the IP for https://aws.amazon.com/de/nova/?

Hi Simon,
I'm using actual version of 1Password (EU servers) for macOS. When starting the main app it does connect to several servers:
- b5n.1password.eu
- my.1password.eu
- app-updates.agilebits.com
- cache.agilebits.com
- my.1password.com
The question is: why 'my.1password.com' when I'm using EU servers.
The other question: 'my.1password.com' resolves to 44.199.128.169 and 98.91.50.4 - why and what is it in detail?
When looking at https://browserleaks.com/ip/44.199.128.169 you can see this is definitively an Amazon Nova server.
Connections all checked with Little Snitch on macOS.
