2 Factor Auth Code after Upgrade

In short it's simply to avoid situations like this. If you only have access to your 1Password Emergency Kit (say a natural disaster destroyed your house, but you had an offsite copy of your Emergency Kit), you'd need your one-time password as well as your Emergency Kit details, but your one-time password is only stored in your 1Password account, meaning that you can't access it.
As for why you received the message, did you only recently enable two-factor authentication? The next time the 1Password apps check with 1Password.com after enabling two-factor authentication for your 1Password account, you're required to enter your two-factor authentication code or use a security key.
