We’re sorry about the issues that you’ve reported when using 1Password in Safari. We’re happy to share that the latest update to macOS and iOS includes improvements to Safari that resolve a bug where 1Password's suggestion menu would stop working and autofill will stop filling in certain situations.
- If you’re using a Mac, update to macOS version 15.6: Update macOS on Mac
- If you’re using an iPhone or iPad, update to iOS version 18.6: Update iOS on iPhone and iPad

I also frequently encounter this issue and it's extremely frustrating. Agree with the OP that this is a pretty core and basic feature. Am happy to provide logs or whatever to help find the root cause, but it's still happening regularly with the latest updates.
I have also been running into this issue frequently. I usually have several Safari tabs open... I'll create a new one, go to a site, and try to login by clicking in the username box. The 1P icon will be displayed in the text box, but clicking on it does nothing. If I try to use the 1P browser extension icon in the toolbar, it will show me the login info but Auto-Fill does nothing. The only workaround other than copy/pasting is to fully restart Safari.
Interestingly, if I go back to other open tabs that have login options the 1P extension will sometimes work as expected without a restart. Very strange and frustrating!
I just experienced this again and emailed a diagnostic report. Hope a solution comes soon!

I'm sorry that you're running into autofill issues in Safari as well. The next time that the issue occurs, can you tell me if opening the website in a new tab gets things working in the new tab?
I suspect that you're running into a known issue with Safari 18.4 and this will help me to confirm if you are or aren't. I look forward to hearing from you.
