Autofill on a Pixel 8 with Nova Launcher

My spouse is having a similar issue and is about ready to force me to switch to another service.  As I moved to 1password because Bitwarden wasn't working for another family member, doing it again is not high on my list of desires.  As my 1password works fine, I have gone through all of the app settings and made certain that they were identical to mine.

The affected phone is a Pixel 8.  I've been comparing it to my Pixel 8 Pro that is running Android 16 and utilizing GBoard.  Mine, which has has always worked is roughly the same  (though I about 4 months ago I began testing versions of Android 16, which didn't affect it).  The Pixel 8 is running Nova Launcher.

I tried to utilize a different browser than Chrome.  It seemed to work once.  I've tried since then and still don't have any Auto-fill on either browser.   It happens on all types of apps.  It's so sporadic that there's no way to see a pattern.

    Hi 1P_Timothy

Chrome had been set to have other apps. We switched it to Autofill with Google. it didn't restart but we shut it down by swiping the app up. Nothing.

We switched to the second step. When we got into the Autofill setting, the toggle to use in Chrome was turned off. We tried flipping it on, it took us back to the setting in your first suggestion. where we tried turning it back to Autofill using another service,   It worked once.  To be safe, because it's worked erratically in the past, we tried to go ahead and finish the steps in your second selection.  It was already set up as you say in #4, but we toggled it up to Above supported keyboards and then back to below the ields they relate to and then continued with force stopping the app.  After reopening 1password and tryng it on another site, it sort of worked.  It didn't work when tapping on a field, we tried tapping again, and it popped up but disapeared so fast that it couldn't be used.  It did that three times and then stayed up long enough to tap.  It worked.  We tried another site and it failed to work anymore.

If we get it working in  Chrome, how would we get it to work in other apps? It isn't working in those  all either.

Thanks for reporting back on that VoxMJB.

As a next step, I'd like to ask that your spouse sends in a diagnostics report so our team can check for any errors, and help with further troubleshooting.

      Send a diagnostics report (Android)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

Hi VoxMJB , thanks for joining the conversation! I'm sorry to hear your spouse has run into some issues with 1Password for Android. Autofill issues can stem from a number of areas, so I've just moved your comment to a new thread so we can help focus on what you've described.

To start, I would recommend applying any pending updates to the device, to the browser, and to 1Password. After, the device can be restarted.

It sounds like Chrome is the primary browser used on your spouse's Pixel 8. If that's the case, could you try these steps

    1. Open Chrome.
    2. Click the three dots ( ⋮ ) on the top right, then tap Settings > Autofill Services.
    3. Tap Autofill with Google, then tap Restart Chrome in the popup that appears.

If you're not using Chrome, or if you're still seeing issues after the steps above could you try these steps as well:

    1. Open and unlock the 1Password app.
    2. Tap the account/collection icon on the top right.
    3. Tap Settings > Autofill.
    4. Tap Display autofill prompts then tap Below the fields they relate to.
    5. Open your device settings, then tap Apps > 1Password > Force Stop.
    6. Reopen the 1Password for Android app, then try filling.

Let us know how that goes, and thanks again!
