Autofill Wrong Credentials, with a double-twist

Hello,

This seems to be a common enough issue but mine seems to be less common:

1Password keeps trying to autofill the wrong credentials from my archive.

The credentials in question are for Telus.com.

First thing I tried was rebooting my iPad. Didn’t fix it.

Then I tried opening the 1Password app and searching for Telus. This returned the correct credentials. Awesome, the app works.

Next I tried tapping the Extensions button, selecting 1Password, and performing a search. This also returned the correct credentials. So we know that also works.

It was at this point in typing out my issue that I encountered the second twist: The extension fixed itself and decided to provide the correct credentials. I’m going to post this anyway in case the issue comes up again for anyone else, and also so that the 1Password team can look into why the extension was autofilling from the archive.

I’m guessing there was some sort of delay synchronizing whatever takes care of autofill with whatever takes care of the extension and the vault?

Also, an iPad tag at the bottom of this submission page would be nice.

  • Hello bdfortin! 👋

I'm sorry that you're running into issues with autofill on your iPad. 1Password for Safari should only offer to fill active items, not items that you've archived. So that I can better understand the situation can you tell me the following:

    1. Is the item that is being filled in the Archive or in a vault that you've named "Archive"? You can find information about the Archive here: Archive and delete items
    2. Do I understand correctly that you have the following:
      • An active Login item containing your login credentials for Telus.com.
      • An archived Login item containing a different set of login credentials for Telus.com.
    3. How do you know which Login item is being suggested? Is it titled differently from the one that you're expecting to be suggested?

Also, an iPad tag at the bottom of this submission page would be nice.

Thank you for the feedback! I'll pass this along to the team. For now, you can continue to tag iOS for iPad threads.

I look forward to hearing from you.

      Hi Dave,

      1. I have a single vault, its icon is a key, and it is not named “Archive”. The Archive I’m talking about is in the Items tab near the bottom, above “Recently Deleted”, and has a banker’s box as an icon.
      2. You are understanding correctly.
      3. I know which login item is being suggested based on the email and title. One is my mother’s email for her Telus login with the title “Mom’s Profile”, and the other is my email for my Telus login with the title “Telus”. It seems 1Password rolls the dice when deciding which one to offer.

I’m fairly certain that removing “Telus.com” as the website for my mother’s credentials would probably solve the issue but I want to figure out why the extension can access the Archive first.

Thank you for answering those questions. I haven't been able to reproduce this behaviour so I'd like to ask that you send an email to support@1Password.com along with the following:

        • A screenshot of the archived item in the Archive in the 1Password app.
        • A screenshot of the archived item being suggested by 1Password in the browser.
        • A link to this thread.

Make sure that nothing sensitive is visible in the screenshots. After emailing in, you'll receive a reply from BitBot, our friendly robot assistant with a Support ID that looks something like [#ABC-12345-678]. Post that here, and I'll be able to locate your message.

Good news! 15 minutes after posting this the extension reverted and started offering the archived credentials again.

Version: 1Password for iPadOS 8.12.1. The App Store says this is the latest version, released 2 days ago.

iPad is also up to date. Safari, I assume, is also up to date since it’s a system app.
