Automatic close on Windows lock?
Since the most recent upgrade, I have noticed a change in behavior: if I leave 1PW open and let my computer lock due to inactivity, 1PW closes. This is new, to me at least. Previously, 1PW would remain running, although it would itself lock.
It's no big deal, since I have to unlock 1PW either way. I was mostly just wondering if this is a new and designed behavior.
P.S. BTW, the reason I was in the habit of leaving 1PW running was that all too often in the past, starting 1PW did not work. I would have to launch Task Manager and kill 1PW there, and then restart. This was intermittent but occurred often enough to be annoying.
OS: Win10 Pro, v22H2

I did try restarting my machine. Same 1PW behavior. I will let the machine go to sleep and lock later today, and try one more reboot, and then I will do the diagnostics report if I see the same thing.
Thanks.

Hello bjkeefe! 👋
I'm sorry that 1Password is closing unexpectedly. I haven't been able to reproduce the same issue on my own Windows device. So that I can investigate further:
- Can you post a screenshot of your Windows lock settings?
- Are "Keep 1Password in the notification area" and "Open 1Password on startup" enabled when you open the 1Password desktop app's settings: Click your account or collection at the top of the sidebar, click Settings, then click General.
I look forward to hearing from you.-Dave

Hi, 1P_Dave,
- Don't know what (where) Windows Lock Settings is. I can tell you that my computer is set to go to sleep after 20 minutes of inactivity, and that it will require my Windows password when I wake it up.
- "Keep 1Password in the notification area" is ticked, yes. ""Open 1Password on startup" is not, no. I have never had the second option ticked.
As I said before, it's really no big deal -- I have to type my 1PW password whether the I start the program again or whether it is minimized in the task bar, the way it usually was in the past. I was just curious whether this was an intended new behavior as of the most recent update.

Thanks for the reply. 1Password should stay open even if your Windows PC locks. If you restart your PC then does that improve things? If it doesn't then I'd like to ask you to reproduce the issue one more time and then create and share a 1Password diagnostics report from your Windows PC:
Send a diagnostics report (Windows)
Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com
With your email please include:- A link to this thread: https://www.1password.community/discussions/1password/automatic-close-on-windows-lock/163204
