Bring the change icon from Web back

Hi,

Since the change to the new web interface for some unknown reason a decision was made to not be able to edit the icon of an entry and change it with another .png icon. All of my items have custom icons which was made from the previous interface. This was over a year ago maybe more and i have contacted support twice with an answer "we know, we will implement"

When this will happen ? i don't want to become that guy but i know a few about dev and i'm positive that it is not a mega-feature, it was there, but you remove it. Why ?

When it is coming back ? yes i know i can do it from my iPhone but that is not a solution.

I will appreciate any insight on that.

Best Regards,
-Vassilis

Thanks for championing this feature request so strongly. The entire web app was rewritten from scratch to use similar technologies as our other apps for better usability and compatibility. The implementation of custom icons needs to be rewritten for this new web app. I know that this can be distinction without a difference but I wanted to clarify that the feature wasn't merely taken out.

I know that it can be frustrating to receive the same answer repeatedly and I want to assure you that this is something that the team is actively working on and I hope to share more news very soon.

For the time being, is there a reason why you can't use the desktop app to add custom icons as a workaround? The desktop app would also provide additional functionality like biometric unlock and better search and sorting tools.

  • Hello vcon! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! The current version of the 1Password.com web app doesn't support adding custom icons yet since that functionality hasn't been built yet for the new web app.

Our team hopes to bring custom icon support to the web app soon as part of work to increase the consistency between the web app and other client apps. I don't have an ETA to share at the moment. For the time being, I recommend that you install the desktop app: Install 1Password

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply.

That is the exact same answer i got two years ago. I'm sorry but i'm going to rant. Why ? You had that feature , which is not exactly a feature is a basic UI element that exists on all the similar products, it is something user is except to do and not go through loops like download the photo on the iphone or download the app and make it from there.

The function was there, existed for years but why someone took it out, i'm trying to understand the logic of such an "irrational" decision, who though ok we will remove the custom icons and another one said yes lets do it.

And for two years now we are still "it is in the roadmap of doing it". i do not know maybe i'm the only one who needs this do not know but i really fail to see that other users do not user custom icons on their entries.

I love your software, loyal user with a family package.

      I hope i wasn't disrespectful.

      Thank you
      Vassilis
