Category Reveal?
Dear 1Password Helpers,
Forgive me if I've missed something, but --
Let's say I joined a gym called Boggles Gym and they gave me a physical ID card. I took a picture of the card and saved it in...

3 years agoThanks for clarifying. I can see how it would be useful to see the category of an item when viewing the item itself and I've filed a feature request on your behalf with our product team.
- Would be nice if I could create my own categories, i.e., customize categories. I find it bit odd, for instance, that "Wireless Router" has its own category, but not other hardware items, such as phones, computers, tablets, printers. Most people only have a single wireless router, but everyone has more than one device. I tend to stash all my hardware under the "Wireless Router" category. It's a bit awkward but, eh, it's a workaround.
Creating custom category templates is an often requested feature and I've let the product team know that you'd like to see this as well. For now, you can use Secure Notes to keep track of things that don't neatly fit into one of the Categories available in 1Password. Secure Notes are very flexible and you can add custom fields to organize the information that you add: Making the most of Secure Notes
Set a Secure Note item up the way you want it, then save that as an empty "template". Then you can duplicate that item (Command - D) and fill in the fields. You can group those items together by using Tags. You can even add custom icons to those items.
And also great would be a template for telephone field additions. So, for example, you would tell 1Password to store phone numbers as, for example, (999) 555-1234. There are templates for Dates and Month/Year -- they're great.
1Password already allows you to add a phone field to an item:
- Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
- Click on and then Edit an item.
- Click + add more.
- Scroll down and click phone.
- Enter the phone number and save the item.
Let me know if I misunderstood or if this isn't working for you.
While I can't promise anything, I've filed individual feature requests for the other suggestions in your post as well. The product team will look through the filed feature requests as they're planning our roadmap and future updates to 1Password.
Thank you for the suggestions and for helping us make 1Password even better. 🙂
-Dave
