Created new account, got another verification email

Hello,

I created a new 1Password account with a different email address. Got an email asking me to verify my email address and it’s all set up and working. About a day later I got another email from hello @ 1Password dot com asking me to verify my email address again.

I was reluctant and forwarded it to abuse but both emails are from hello @ 1Password so it seemed ok so I clicked it. After I clicked it, it said my account with that email address is already set up.

was the second email legit?

  • Thanks! Actually they got back to me and it was my fault as I had clicked something twice while setting up. So I’m all set, but thanks again.

    Thank you for your answer.

I am only talking about the new email address. When setting up the new account I got two separate emails from 1password, both to the new email address, asking me to verify that new email address. The second one came a day after I had set up the new account and was using it. Both emails had a verify button, for the same new email address. When I clicked the button on the second email it said the new email address was already verified.

When I paste in the email address from 1Password it turns it into a link, probably because I am not using plain text. That’s why I spelled it out, wasn’t trying yo obfuscate it.

I clicked ios simply because it said to do so. I realize it had nothing to do with the platform.

We still know nothing about your email messages or your links because you still have not given any details. It seems an odd choice to ask for help, then refuse to do what is necessary to receive that help when requested.

Alas there is no plain text or markup-only option in the editor, but as I mentioned, you can click something which was automatically linked and unlink it as I Illustrated with hello@1password.com.

You'll also have to remove "mailto:" manually due to a shortcoming of the forum platform.

I hesitate to ask what "it" told you to tag your post for iOS (or "IOS", as the forum incorrectly offers).

We have no way of knowing.

You have two 1Password accounts, each with an email address, both of which are yours. You then received email to "my email address", followed by email to "my email address", but you don't give a single detail about these email messages. You go on to say that you clicked a link, but don't mention anything about the link or even where you ended up after clicking it.

Email headers are just text. You can copy and paste the relevant ones, obfuscating any details which you want to remain private, into a code block for easy reading.

URLs, or links, are just text. You can copy and paste the URLs, obfuscating any encoded data. You can click it in the editor and click the icon to prevent it from becoming a link here.

You don't need to obfuscate hello@1password.com. It's not a secret.

None of this seems related to iOS.
