data transfer time on upgrade from 7 to 8

I am upgrading from version 7 to 8 on my Mac OS 13.4.1 Ventura.
When asked if I want to transfer my data, I said yes.
I got a window telling me
That was 30 minutes ago.
This can't be normal.
What to do?
