3 years agoDoes anyone else hate that when switching to 1Password on desktop, the cursor isn't in the searchbox
Typically I use 1password by switching over to it, and then EVERY TIME I need to click the search box so I can start typing to narrow down something. It'd be great if there was even an experimental option or something where I can say "searchbox takes focus when switching to 1pass.
It literally slows me down so much. I know I can just try to use the 1password popup (cmd + ) but then I don't have access to copy the username or password easily. I need to click another button to view the details and then I can click. ultimately. id love autofill to work (but like other users have said) autofill doesn't work with chrome and so it just freezes up my machine for like 10 seconds if i try that route.

1Password Team
Hi @coltonidle,
Thanks for bringing this up, I did some testing with 1Password 8 on my Mac and am noticing the same thing: the app returns focus to whatever was last focused. I'll log a feature request on your behalf to explore with the rest of the team. 🙂
In the meantime, I can suggest a couple alternatives. The first would be using the "Show 1Password" keyboard shortcut that you can find in 1Password 8's preferences:
Hiding and showing 1Password does refocus the cursor on the search bar, so this might be a good option for you!
I think you also mentioned Quick Access but not being able to copy usernames from it. To clarify, once an item is highlighted in Quick Access, you can click the three dots to the right or press the right arrow key on your keyboard to view additional options:
That Cmd+C keyboard shortcut will also work without opening this menu, so for example you could open Quick Access with a custom keyboard shortcut, search for the item you want, and then press Cmd+C to copy that item's username: Get to know Quick Access
Lastly, I'm sorry to hear all of this has been a workaround for autofill not behaving in Chrome. I'm happy to do more troubleshooting with you regarding that issue, but from your description there I suspect it's a known bug. While we don't currently have a fix, we have had some reports of folks having better results with Chrome Canary. This nightly build has more recent features and bug fixes but also undergoes less testing than their production releases so it's up to you if you'd like to try it out.
Let me know if you do though, likewise for any of the alternatives I've mentioned here, I'd love to hear how it goes. If you have any questions along the way, don't hesitate to ask here. 😊
