4 years agoDownload for Mac - Usability Issues, which version are you on?
https://1password.com/downloads/mac/
That page doesnt give any information which version we are downloading.
Yes it says "Download 1Password 8 for Mac" but that means nothing. No. 8 is not a version.
The link points to https://downloads.1password.com/mac/1Password.zip
This again means nothing, not even 8 mentioned in file url.
Can AB do proper download links and info e.g. 1Passwordv8.7.0.zip?
Also show on the /downloads/mac/ page also close by to download button the version: Version 8.7.0

1P_Dave my point was to say that its bad for usability if users have to do extra work to find for the current version number. Download Page should show: Version 8.7.0
If the download is JUST an installer and not the app, it should say that its an installer.
It cant be hard to say 1Password_v8_7_0_Installer.zip
Im pointing this out because i saw in the forum someone wrote 8.8.0, but when i checked v8 and tried update it says i have latest version in 8.7.0.
On the download page i could not see which version is current.
The donwload link didnt contain any info. This should be a guess game and making it complicated for users where a simple v8.7.0 on Download page can help people understand. Its nothing new and many other sites manage to do this right.
Most users wont realize they have to clik on the releases page and then figure there out which one version is the latest (and why their 1PW doesnt update to 8.8.0)

Hello @sveltemimemansion! 👋
The download link on our website will download an installer that will always make sure to install the latest version of 1Password 8. At the time of writing the latest version is 8.7.0. We don't recommend that you run older versions of 1Password.
You can find our release notes for 1Password 8 here: https://releases.1password.com/mac/
I hope that helps! 😊
