Feature request/idea: automatic split to fields on freeform text in notes
Use Case:
I really like using the secure note feature in one password as it's a great convenient way to drop in data that we might need to keep in our vault.
Mundane but everyday use-case: I was updating a webcam's firmware and thought: "oh, it gives you the serial number. I may as well pop that into 1P in case it comes in handy."
This all works nicely. The part that nobody wants to go through, however, is breaking it up into "fields."
Taking the above text snippet as an example, I may wish to break out the:
- SN
- Firmware version
In a more normal use-case .... if I copied in a text block with my bank account info, I might wish to break out:
- Account number
- IBAN
- Bank name
I do this whenever I can because I know that those fields/entities get recognised for autocompletion. So if I use the credetials a lot it's a time-saver. But ... it's a pain to do.
Idea/Suggestion
I'm assuming that there's a fairly easy way, using AI, to identify the potential key-value pairs in any given block of text.
Implementation: a convenient button that says "split to fields". It takes the the text in the box and .... autopopulates the values to save you the tedium. If the values are preexisting standard entites in 1 Password it could even map those automatically too.

Hey danielrosehill! Thanks as always for the detailed feature request.
I have definitely dumped text into a secure note, or the text field of an item myself more than a few times. While it's not terribly difficult to go back and break the text into custom field later, it can be time consuming. With that in mind I can certainly see the benefit in having some way to automatically organize it. I can't say if or when this feature might be added to 1Password, but I've gone ahead and filed a report with the team.
Let us know if there's anything we can help with, and thanks again!
