Feedback regarding 1Password 8

I upgraded not because I wanted to but I knew at some point version 7 would be no more. fortunately I didn't have any problems, but it was not a no brainer. it needs to be a no brainer.

the interface is not great. so much wasted space, the fonts are too large and the spacing is too much. I put it side by side with the mail app and I like the feel and look of mail app better. the mail app hasn't been updated for years but it makes better use of the real estate. maybe because 1password it written with tools that make it works for all operating systems. does 1password really expect us to believe that this is better.

Well you can use the zoom in preferences, that's is what they will say. it should be great at the default setting. That is windows all these tweaks to make it better, but it will never be great. 1password is the app that makes the Mac less, not more. do they not know why we love the Mac?

all this doesn't matter because all the reviews say this is the best password manager. the reality is most of us don't need every bell and whistle that 1password says it has. I just want a great password manager that lets me use iCloud! Sorry but I trust iCloud so much more that 1passwords servers. I trust apple more than 1password.

the only hope is real competition.

but the support is great.

I looked at my other apps and the aesthetics are more attractive and make better use of the screen. Almost all of my other apps look like all the Mac apps. I don't know how to explain it but I think if you compare it as I described you will see.

At the very least I think your compact mode should be the default. I don't think you should have two different densities. it should incorporate the same size as on the Mac. if it is too small or large the change should be done in the Mac OS. there is a place for that. imagine having to adjust each app :(

I'm sorry to hear that compact mode still isn't exactly what you were looking for. Can you tell me a little more specifically what you don't like about the interface? I would be happy to pass along your feedback to our design team.

    thank you

compact is much better but not like all my other apps. it's different and sorry not a fan.

  • Hello harczuk! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! Have you tried 1Password 8's compact mode? It will change the density of the 1Password app. Follow these steps:

    1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
    2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click on Settings.
    4. Click on Appearance.
    5. Choose "Compact".

Legacy iCloud-synced standalone vaults were used before we introduced 1Password accounts. We ran up against the limits of standalone vaults and what they could support technologically and we introduced 1Password.com in order to bring folks a more functional and more secure experience.

In addition to introducing popular features such as secure family sharing and item history, 1Password.com accounts are much more secure than older standalone vaults. Unlike older standalone vaults that are only protected using your password, your 1Password account data is protected and encrypted using a secret that is derived from both your account password and your Secret Key. You're also able to further secure your 1Password account using two-factor authentication, something that you couldn't do with standalone vaults synced using iCloud.

We have more information about how 1Password secures the most important data in your life here: About the 1Password security model
