3 years agoFix v.8 search results?!?
How do re-enable the search behavior like v.7? That is, if I search for a term I need to see all results that match that search.
If your record is not in the top results, it's UNBELIEVABLY frustr...

3 years ago1P_PeterG So yeah, that shortcut in 1Password 8 does bring up a field labeled "Find" that behaves the same as "Search 1Password" in 1Password 7.app. I know I sound/I am more than a bit salty about this. But I'm at a complete loss to why this change was made. What is the UX/UI reason to obfuscate the long-standing search/find functionality in favor of a new find/search that makes it harder to actually find the needed records?
Case in point ... lets say I use the new "Search in All Accounts" to look for "SomeAdminUser" and "google.com" turns out I have 10 records with that because I'm not perfectly fastidious with records or the record is required to live in multiple vaults, or whatever reason that there is for multiple records to exist.
If I select the first record, I'm taken to that record in a list surrounded by records that have absolutely nothing to do with the search. If the record doesn't happen to be the on that I'm looking for, I've got to start the search over. Or I have to hit cmd + return to get the previous functionality. But again, I ask why? How is this faster or better than searching in 1Password 7?
Is the goal is to give the ability to "Find" inside of "Show all matching items" of a "Search in All Accounts"? If so, I'd say it's just as easy to add two search terms to the original search? If search (now rebranded "Find") functionality exists, why must it be hidden?
I would posit that there is absolutely nothing intuitive about the distinction that is drawn between "Search" and "Find" in 1Password 8.

So, um yeah, no. The current implementation of "Find" vs "Search" is a giant leap backwards in usability/functionality. So much so that I'm likely uninstalling 8 until this is fixed. Considering that search worked well in 1Password 7, I'm sure this fundamental issue with 1Password 8 can be rectified.
