Forgotten ios App Password

I've had the 1Password7 app on my iPhone for a number of years and the master password always used to work with my thumb up until today.

I have been trying to log in all day and just can't remember the password and the hint is not much help either (my fault I know).

How do / can I recover / reset the password to my iPhone app. I've only just created a 1Password online account.

All help gratefully received. Thank you.

I'm sorry that you're unable to unlock 1Password on your iPhone because you've forgotten your password. I know that this can be a stressful situation and the community and I are here to help as much as possible.

Just to clarify, were you using an older 1Password.com account before you created the new account that you mentioned? If you were using a 1Password account then do you have a family organizer who can help you recover your account? Or were you using an older standalone vault without an account? Do you still have access to 1Password on another device and do you see your items there?

As a next step, try older passwords. If that doesn't work, here is a guide on what might help if you have forgotten your account password:

      Hi Dave,

Thanks for your message. I've also had an email from Support and unfortunately it does look like there is no way of recovering anything. I've had 1Password 7 on my phone for 4+ years, working perfectly until today, when for whatever reason the thumbprint no longer worked.

I'll have to start again :-(

I'm sorry that you haven't been able to find your password yet. While Touch ID is a great convenience feature, it doesn't replace your password and it can stop working if:

        • The amount of time in Settings > Security > “Confirm my account password” has elapsed
        • You fail Touch ID authentication too many times.
        • You update or restart the device.
        • iOS disables Touch ID for other reasons.

Your password is the one password, hence the name "1Password", that you need to memorize. There isn't anyway for us to reset the password on our end because of the strictness of our security design. That being said, you can keep trying to guess your password and there's no limit to the number of attempts that you can make to unlock 1Password.

If you do start over with a 1Password account, then I recommend that you generate a recovery code and store it somewhere safe. The recovery code, which is a new feature for 1Password accounts that wasn't available for older standalone vaults, can help you regain access to your 1Password account if you lose your account password or Secret Key: Generate and use recovery codes

If you have any other questions then please continue the conversation with our team over email and they'll be happy to help further.
