3 years agoHigh CPU on macOS
I can't figure out a pattern to this, but over the last few days 1Password and 1Password Helper have suddenly been using very high CPU. If I start the 1Password app and quit from the menu, things settle down. I only noticed the high CPU when my fans stay on for unusually long. Is anyone else seeing this?

Hi folks,
@kamthamc and @gblo0, you wrote beta channel but Alvin was referring to the nightly channel where the fix was implemented.
However, we did ship a new 1Password 8.9.4 beta update yesterday with that specific fix, can you check for an update and let us know if it is working better.

Thanks @lasseoe ! I've located the ticket and can see that you were previously speaking to my colleague, Jac. We've since released an update that should resolve the high CPU issue. Can you update the 1Password for Mac app to the latest nightly build to see if it helps? Here are the steps on how to update to the latest nightly:
- Open the 1Password 8 for Mac app.
- From the menu bar, select 1Password > Preferences > Advanced.
- For 'Release Channel:', select 'Nightly'.
- Switch to the 'About' tab, and click 'Check for Updates'.
As of this writing, the latest nightly version is 80901030. Let me know if that helps or you have any questions along the way. 🙂

Hi @simonf00 @lasseoe - thank you for bringing this to our attention. It's certainly not intended for 1Password to use that level of resources.
@Simonf00 - our specialists will be happy to assist you with this. Please send a short email to support@1Password.com, and include your username and a link to this discussion so we have all the info in one place. From there, we can look into the specifics of what's going wrong with the app on your system.
@lasseoe - you mentioned that you have opened a case with our support team. Can you paste the ticket ID here (it looks like this: #AAA-11111-000]). We'll want to ensure that this is thoroughly addressed for you. 👍
Thank you, and my apologies that you've encountered this issue in the first place!

Yes, this happens numerous times per day. I've opened a case with support and have submitted various logs and traces.
It's also leaking memory. - Former Member
Sorry... wrong process. The culprits are "1Password Helper (Renderer)" and "1Password"
