How can I figure out what's activating 1password app on macOS?

I'm using 1password 8.10.68 on macos 15.3.1

Every two hours or so 1password asks to be unlocked via touch id and I have no idea why, what's exactly triggering this action.

I'm using 1password's ssh agent but I have remember approval for 24 hours turned on.

is there a way I can figure out what's trying to unlock it?

I'm surprised 1password doesn't show what's trying to unlock it.

  • Hello chingis! 👋

I'm sorry that you're seeing an unexpected prompt to unlock 1Password, are you able to post a screenshot of the prompt? That would help me to identify if it's coming from the SSH agent or something else. Make sure that nothing sensitive is visible in the screenshot.

After you approve or dismiss the Touch ID prompt, do you see anything open on your screen? For example, the main 1Password window or Quick Access or the 1Password pop-up in the browser?

Although it may not help with this issue, I suggesting updating macOS to 15.3.2 and then restarting your Mac to see if that improves the situation.

Updating and restarting doesn't help, I have had this issue for a few months now.

This is the screenshot of the pop up. When I approve or dismiss nothing happens.

Thank you for the screenshot and for confirming that updating macOS didn't resolve the issue. The prompt doesn't look like it's coming from the SSH agent. I would suggest checking the following:

        1. If you're using 1Password in multiple browsers, try using just one browser at a time to see if you can narrow the issue down to a specific browser launching 1Password.
        2. Are you using a 1Password integration through a third-party service like Alfred or Raycast? Try turning off that integration to see if the issue still occurs.
        3. Are you running any scripts that make calls to 1Password using the CLI?

If none of these options apply then, to investigate this further, I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:

        Send a diagnostics report (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

        With your email please include:
