How do I disable passkey support?
How do I disable all prompting or integration for passkeys in the 1password browser plugin for safari?
Hello ProratedMongoose! 👋
Thanks for reaching out! Is there a particular reason why you wanted to turn off passkey support for 1Password in Safari? Passkeys are the future of authentication and I would recommend upgrading to passkeys wherever possible: Save and sign in with passkeys in your browser
That being said, you can turn off passkey support by following these steps:
- Open your browser.
- Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
- Click Autofill & save.
- Turn off "Offer to save and sign in with passkeys".
If you're an administrator for a 1Password Business membership then you can also turn off passkeys for your entire team using app usage policies.-Dave

My question has seemingly been resolved with that answer.
After helping the 4th person get themselves back into accounts that they got locked out of because of the terrible state of Passkey usability I came to the conclusion that for many, this half-baked feature should be turned off.
See also these articles which I would assume 1password is familiar with.

I'll second your "half-baked" observation. I never initiated it on my account, yet upgrading to v8 led to a persistent/annoying "No passkeys available" prompt on my Android (with the unhelpful option to "Use a different device"). I get the impression they have organizationally changed along with their business values.

I have avoided passkeys, so none should exist on my two Macs, Android, iPhone nor iPad. I held onto v7 as long as I could because I wanted to continue to back up my vaults. When I reluctantly upgraded to v8 days ago, I noticed this popup. This behavior could have cropped up a little earlier; I'm not entirely sure -- I have been exceptionally busy with personal matters over the past year.
So, "No passkeys available" should be accurate. However, I am surprised that expects to find any passkeys. My Android 10 has the latest 1Password version, 8.10.74. And Autofill is enabled, implying my Internet connection should be fine; it is fine with numerous other apps.

I'm sorry that you ran into an issue with passkeys on your Android device. Can you tell me a little more about the issue? Did you run into that message when signing into a specific website or app using an already saved passkey? Or when trying to save a new passkey for that website or app in 1Password?
