I can't search within a secure note

Hi, I have recently upgraded from 7 to 8 of 1password. I used to be able to search within a secure note for the line I was after within a secure note. Although this was a somewhat convoluted processes by having to edit the note first, clicking within the note and then doing a Cmd+f, it did find the item I was after. However, version 8 doesn't behave this way. In fact I can't get it do a search for any information within a selected secure note. What am I doing wrong? I am just using the Mac app.

I also would LOVE this feature. It would be nice to have a easy "search when typing" feature like Firefox has for every web page for use in any displayed note that isn't in edit mode.

Hi Andrew, I am happy to elaborate further but is possible to do this via direct-messaging and not on a public forum?

  • Hi @darrincharlton,

While this isn't currently possible in 1Password 8, we do have an open feature request that is being tracked internally and I've added a vote on your behalf. Searching a term and pressing ⌘ + return or clicking Show all matching items will locate any items that contain the search term:

Though I understand you're looking to search within a specific item. If you're open to sharing more about your use case, it always helps us to have additional context to advocate for these changes.

Thanks for sharing your feedback and letting us know this is important to you. πŸ‘πŸ»
