iOS 26 - Unusual Unlock
Setup: iOS 26, iPhone 15, 1Password for iOS 8.12.5
Issue: I can often fully close/exit the app (swipe up from bottom, hold middle, flick app of top of screen), lock the phone, wait 10 sec, unlock the phone, then re-open the app, fail Face ID twice, click the key icon and the word Passwords above my keyboard, grab the password from 1Password, and unlock 1Password.
Question 1: why does my phone have access to the 1Password vault, when 1Password is locked, to unlock itself?
Question 2: I was under the impression keeping the 1Password password and master key in the vault as being okay. Is that still the case? It would appear based on the issue I describe the answer is no.
Settings: Unlock using Face ID, everything else off. Lock when device locks - on. Auto-lock on exit - 2 min.
Recreation: Often-to-always. Perhaps the 2 min is a saver? Don't think it is correct I should be able to access 1Password after unlocking the phone, if the setting is turned on to lock when the device does.

This problem still exists.
- Don't people often keep 1Password password and key in 1Password itself as an entry? I have done so for almost a decade. I remember reading about the risks years ago and I thought it was nil to do so.
- Is it normal I can use 1Password in iOS to unlock 1Password that is locked? This seems nuts.

Hi Jack229, thanks for following up on this, and apologies for the delay in our response here.
What you’re describing isn't what we'd typically expect. 1Password needs to be unlocked before it can fill a login. You can read more about that here: About Autofill security in 1Password for iOS
With that in mind, I’d like to confirm exactly where the suggestion you’re seeing is coming from. Is there any chance the suggestion appearing above your keyboard is from somewhere other than 1Password? For example, do you have any other AutoFill providers enabled on your device?
It would also be worth checking your Apple Passwords app to see if you have an entry saved there for 1Password.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hope my post wasn't too confusing. I notice Recreation is really Re-creation.
TL;DR on my iPhone I can unlock 1Password with the Master Password, accessing the Master Password by tapping the icon and word 'Passwords' above the keyboard. The source of the Master Password is 1Password.
Question: if 1Password is locked, why does it deliver my Master Password to unlock itself?
