iPad setup for my elderly father?
Howdy All,
I just recently switched from LastPass to 1Password families. I am trying to setup my father (81 years old) to be able to use 1Password on his iPad. I would like to make it as simple as possible since he does not even know is main password. He struggles to use the finger print reader on the iPad, but he knows his pin code. In the settings under security, when I select "Unlock with device passcode" it also automatically selects "Unlock using Touch ID". This is even when I have disabled Touch ID on the iPad. I can't seem to disable "Unlock using Touch ID" either unless I disable "Unlock with device passcode". I would like for him to be able to just use the passcode. Is there a way to do this?
Also, I have "Require account password" set to "Never", yet he still gets prompted for passwords or Touch ID. What does this setting actually do?
I have "Lock when device locks" disabled and Auto-lock on exit set to "Never", but when I lock the iPad and unlock it again, 1Password still requires a password or Touch ID to unlock. Again, what do these settings actually do?
Everyone else in my family seems to be doing fine on 1Password, but setting up my father's iPad is getting really annoying. It seems like the settings I think would work for him don't do anything.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get 1Password on my father's iPad to only require a Pin code ?
Thanks for your time.

Hi fellwin,
I'm so sorry for the slow response here. This is a good question and I believe you should be able to tune the settings to achieve your goal. To make sure we're giving the best advice, please share a few things:- 1Password version
- iPadOS version
- Screenshot(s) of your security settings in 1Password on the iPad in question, being careful not to include any personally identifiable information.
Thank you!
