Is the Grammarly app safe?

I installed the Grammarly app to help me with my writing. I really want to use the app, but is it safe? I have to agree that the app can collect and edit my personal information, passwords, and credit card info. That didn't sound too safe. But from what I hear, Grammarly is a pretty popular, respectable app.
