I'm sorry that you ran into issues with TestFlight. I can't say that I've personally seen this happen to anyone else, TestFlight is usually safe to use (although beta versions of apps downloaded via TestFlight might have more bugs than the stable version). Since TestFlight is developed and controlled by Apple, I recommend reaching out to their support team so that they can look into what happened and advise further.
