This is the primary issue causing me to be unable to use 1Password at the moment. The system autofill needs to be implemented because it's used in many places other than just the Safari app.

Welcome to the community and thank you for the feedback! Have you tried Universal Autofill? It allows you to fill into any app using the 1Password desktop app: Use Universal Autofill in apps and browsers on your Mac

I did, but it wasn't a seamless replacement for the native experience.
Why is it necessary to use accessibility and a universal autofill extension, instead of the platform autocomplete extensions, i.e. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/entitlements/com.apple.developer.authentication-services.autofill-credential-provider ?

Thanks for the reply. 1Password doesn't currently support macOS AutoFill and I've filed a feature request with our product team on your behalf so that they're aware that you'd like to see this feature be supported in the future.
Universal Autofill uses 1Password's own filling brain to detect and fill logins, are you able to tell me where it didn't work smoothly for you? I'd be happy to pass this feedback along to our development team.
